Dedicated NVIDIA Quadro or GeForce card with at least 4 GB VRAM, supporting OpenGL 4.1 or higher. (Intel integrated graphics are not recommended).

For those performing First Article Inspection (FAI) or reverse engineering validation, is a timeless tool that will likely run on Windows 11 for the next decade. Long live the 2019 classic.

For automated inspection cells, the 2019 VMR engine offered better robot path planning and collision detection.

that allows users to create snapshots, tables, and PDF reports of inspection results. Mesh Editing: Includes tools for thinning, smoothing, and closing holes in scan meshes to prepare them for inspection. Software Tiers GOM Inspect Software 2019 Training

Once aligned, a full-surface comparison highlights variations between the CAD model and the scanned part. The software generates a 3D color map where:

GOM Inspect 2019 represents a perfect balance of power and accessibility. It transformed 3D inspection from a niche lab activity into a standard floor-side manufacturing process. By providing detailed insights into part quality and geometry, it helps companies reduce scrap, shorten development cycles, and maintain the highest standards of precision.

Many legacy industrial systems and CAD formats are perfectly optimized for this specific version.

If you are just beginning to explore 3D metrology, GOM Inspect offers a solid foundation with its free version, providing comprehensive tools that are both user-friendly and powerful enough for complex industrial applications.

In the years following the 2019 release, GOM was fully integrated into the ZEISS Group. Consequently, GOM Inspect is now known as . The core software suite continues to be developed under the ZEISS brand, with the same powerful inspection and mesh processing capabilities. For users today, ZEISS Inspect is the direct successor to GOM Inspect, offering continued innovation and support for all modern scanning hardware.

Users import the nominal data (CAD models in formats like STEP, IGES, or native CAD) and the actual data (STL meshes, point clouds, or CT data). Step 2: Alignment

Uses specific reference points defined by engineering blueprints.

  1. My longtime favourite is Solomon’s Boneyard (see also: Solomon’s Keep!). I’ll have to check out Eternium because it might be similar — you pick a wizard that controls a specific element (magic balls, lightning, fire, ice) and see how long you can last a graveyard shift. I guess it’s kind of a rogue-lite where you earn upgrades within each game but also persistent upgrades, like magic rings and additional unlockable characters (steam, storm, fireballs, balls of lightning, balls of ice, firestorm… awesome combos of the original elements.)

I also used to enjoy Tilt to Live, which I think is offline too.

Donut county is a fun little puzzle game, and Lux Touch is mobile risk that’s played quickly.

  2. Thank you great list. My job entails hours a day in an area with no internet and with very little to do. Lol hours of bordom, minutes of stress seconds of shear terror !

Some of these are going to be life savers!

  3. I’ve put hours upon hours into Fallout Shelter. You build a Fallout Shelter and add rooms to it Electric, Water, Food, and if you add a man and woman to a room they will have a baby. The baby will grow up and you can add them to an area to help with the shelter. Outsiders come and attack if you take them out sometimes you can loot the body to get new weapons. There’s a lot more to it but thats kind of sums it up. Thank you for the list I’m down loading some now!

    1. Oh man, I spent so much time on Fallout Shelter a few years ago! Very fun game — thanks for the reminder!
